At J&M Career Prep Academy, our mission is simple: to inspire, educate, and prepare future healthcare professionals for success.
Founded by mother-daughter team Josie and Shermekia Elmore, our academy was created from a shared passion for helping others and a lifelong commitment to service. Together, we bring decades of healthcare experience, educational achievement, and mentorship to every student we serve.
Meet Josie Elmore
Josie has dedicated more than 30 years to the healthcare field as both a nurse and respiratory therapist. Throughout her career, she has provided compassionate care, clinical expertise, and guidance to countless patients and healthcare professionals. Her extensive experience offers students valuable insight into what it truly takes to thrive in the medical field.
Meet Shermekia "Meek" Elmore
Shermekia's passion for education began long before her nursing career. Since starting her college journey in 2004, she has tutored students across a variety of subjects, helping learners build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
In June 2024, Shermekia began her nursing journey and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Diploma from ECPI University. During graduation in September 2024, she was honored with the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award, recognizing her dedication, compassion, and excellence in nursing. In addition to nursing, Shermekia's educational background includes studies in Human Services, further strengthening her passion for supporting and empowering others.
Our services
3 Day Bootcamp
Over three engaging days, participants will explore medical terminology, infection control, professionalism, communication skills, patient care concepts, medication awareness, phlebotomy fundamentals, and healthcare workplace expectations. Students will also participate in hands-on demonstrations, interactive activities, practice scenarios, and career readiness discussions.
Our goal is not to replace state-approved certification programs, but to help students build confidence, understand healthcare expectations, and develop a strong foundation before beginning their chosen career path.
